General Practitioner (0.7 FTE) & Medical Director (0.2 FTE)

Golden Bay Community Health – Tākaka, Aotearoa New Zealand

Golden Bay Community Health is a truly integrated rural health service, bringing together General Practice, Urgent Care, Allied Health, Community Nursing, Maternity, Well Child, Inpatient and Aged Residential Care. Our model is nationally recognised, but what matters most to us is simple: we are here for our community.

Golden Bay is the kind of place people come for a visit and end up staying. It offers a strong sense of connection, a supportive team environment, and a lifestyle that feels a little more balanced.

The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced GP to join us in a potentially combined role, with 0.7 FTE in clinical practice and ideally 0.2 FTE as Medical Director. This is an opportunity to keep your clinical work at the centre of what you do, while also helping shape how care is delivered across the service.

You will be part of a team of five permanent doctors and two nurse practitioners, contributing to both general practice and a 24/7 urgent care service (1:7 roster).

What you’ll be doing
Alongside providing high-quality, patient-centred care, you will:

·         Support clinical governance and quality improvement

·         Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues

·         Contribute to service planning and sustainability

·         Work closely with a wide multidisciplinary team and community partners

About you
You are a vocationally registered GP (or on that pathway) who enjoys working collaboratively and is comfortable stepping into a leadership space. You value continuity of care, have strong communication skills, and are motivated to make a difference in a rural community.

What matters here
We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to reducing health inequities. Cultural responsiveness, respect for whānau, and working in partnership with our community are central to how we practise.

What we offer
A role with real variety and influence, a supportive and experienced team, and the chance to live and work in a community where your contribution is visible and valued.
