Nelson Bays Primary Health provides two primary alcohol and other drug services, for youth and adults. These are:

Youth Alcohol and Other Drug Service

The Youth Alcohol and Other Drug Service provides you with short-term support if you are experiencing mild to moderate alcohol and drug issues. If you are under the age of 25 years old, you will be able to access this mobile service in Nelson Bays. This is a free service provided for you.

This service will help with:

  • The Clinician will provide you with education and a plan to make lifestyle changes. You will also be provided with assistance to get any further mental health support you require

How to access the service:

To access the Youth Alcohol and Other Drug Service, you are able to:

  • Refer yourself to the service (attach form below)

  • Ask your General Practice (family doctor) to refer you

  • Talk to your School Counsellor

Primary Adult Alcohol and Other Drug Service

The Adult Alcohol and Other Drug Service provides you with short-term support if you are experiencing mild to moderate use of alcohol and/or cannabis. If you are over the age of 25 years old, you will be able to access this mobile service offered in Nelson Bays. This is a free service provided for you.

This is a confidential non-judgemental service and is offered face-to-face, by phone, or by video link. The support provided to you is focused on:

  • Providing education around substance use

  • Harm minimisation

  • Identifying client goals and creating a plan to reach those goals

Nelson Bays Primary Health contracts the Victory Community Centre to provide this service for Nelson Bays.

How to access the service:

To access the Adult Alcohol and Other Drug Service, you are able to:

  • Refer yourself to the service

  • Ask your General Practice (family doctor) or community agency to refer you

If you require additional community services, the service can provide referrals for you as needed.
