Pink Shirt Day

Pink Shirt Day was commemorated today at Nelson Bays Primary Health. This lovely event, which included karakia, waiata, conversation and kai, was organised by Phyllistina (Philly) Curtis, a wonderful kaiāwhina.

Pink Shirt Day is about bringing awareness to bullying and the effects that it has on mental health. Philly spoke about how impactful bullying can be and how important it is to support people affected by bullying. In particular, neurodiverse people and the rainbow community.

The waiata and mihi by Philly’s māmā Kaumai emphasised the importance of connection and aroha in combating bullying. The event concluded with eating some delicious pink kai and kōrero!
