Clinical Nurse Manager (0.8 FTE)

The Medical and Injury Centre is an accredited Urgent Care Clinic near the Nelson city centre. Our team comprises of Urgent Care and General Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Receptionists. The centre is open 8am-10pm 7 days a week.

The Clinical Nurse Manager provides clinical leadership to our nurses, paramedics and health care assistants. They implement innovative models of nursing care, ensure clinical procedures and protocols and also lead the nursing requirements of our accreditations. Supporting the professional development of the team is a priority so that we have the right skills mix. As a member of the senior leadership team, you work with the other members to ensure excellence in all aspects of our service delivery and how we operate as a team. Collaboration with other nursing leaders and secondary care is an important part of the role.

This is 0.8 FTE position typically Monday to Friday, 8.00-5.00 pm (there may be occasional weekend work). We offer a salary as per MECA rates with the opportunity to move along scale based on experience and qualifications and up to 5 days paid training leave per year.

The role requires experience and skills in:

  • Leading a nursing team, through a positive and supportive approach, to work at top of scope

  • Role modelling nursing excellence both on the floor and as a mentor to others

  • Implementation of evidence-based best practice and quality improvement processes

  • Verbal and written communication

  • A current Nursing Council of New Zealand Practising Certificate

  • Level 7 ACLS/CORE Advanced (preferred)

  • Proven Primary care experience in emergency/urgent care
